Arvigo® Therapy

It all started when…

I came across Arvigo® Therapy in 2012 when I was wanting to get pregnant, and was searching for basically anything that would assist us on this journey. At the time I could only find one practitioner in New Zealand. After three months of receiving treatment, following the self-care and dietary/nutritional recommendations, I became pregnant. I found the techniques powerful both in the physical results and in the way in which it supported and encouraged me to reconnect with my own body. I am honoured to now be able to offer Arvigo®Therapy to other women.

The uterus is the woman’s core; if it is out of balance, everything in her life, physically emotionally and spiritually, will be out of balance. Don Elijio Panti, Maya Healer

Arvigo® Therapy is effective in assisting with Fertility Enhancement, Digestive Health and Menstrual issues such as painful or irregular periods. It stimulates and improves the vital flows of blood, lymph, energy and nerves within the abdominal area, supporting the body for optimal function of digestive and fertile health and wellness. The techniques also address and can release emotional and energetic tension from the abdomen. Ultimately improving the body’s ability to self-repair and balance, and prevent the progression of dis-ease. It incorporates a holistic approach to health and wellbeing and is based on the idea that healing takes place by treating the whole person on a physical, emotional and energetic level.

The Arvigo Techniques of Maya Abdominal Therapy® are founded on an ancient Maya technique of abdominal massage which is an external non-invasive method. The techniques were developed by Dr. Rosita Arvigo, DN. based on her apprenticeship with the Maya healer Don Elijio Panti and her own education, training, and research as a Naprapathic physician.

What to expect during a session:

  • A comprehensive review of your past and present healthcare needs focusing on reproductive and digestive health

  • Upper and lower abdominal massage to help improve circulation to abdominal organs

  • Massage to back, sacrum and hips to further stimulate circulation to the organs of the abdomen

  • Evaluation of body posture

  • Instruction in Self Care massage which is done at home and helps enhance your professional session.

  • Recommendations of complimentary modalities to support your health and wellness that may include: The wearing of a Faja – a traditional lower abdomen supportive wrap, Bajos – a traditional herbal pelvic steam bath of the Maya, the application of Castor oil packs and Lifestyle education.

Typically 2-3 sessions (at a minimum) are required to address most conditions. Clients who perform their self-care massage on a routine basis report an improvement in their symptoms.

Treatment is not recommended during active menstruation, if an IUD is present, immediately following abdominal surgery, where active infection or cancer is present in the pelvic area, or during the first trimester of pregnancy.
